So, I decided to explore something I haven't touched in over three years: the pattern on my fursona's, well, fur. Why did I decide to explore it? I have a few reasons…

First, I never really thought about when I put together my first designs back in 2004: I knew that I'd have a base coat and a lighter belly, but that was it. So, I wanted to properly define where those two colours met.

Second, I found myself starting to think that a solid-coloured pattern on my face was a bit too generic, and frankly boring. So, I decided that maybe I could extend the lighter colours to it. There aren't any rules saying I can't.

As a result, I began to think about what would look good. I came to the conclusion that emulating the three stripes on a few of my shirts (two down the side, and one across the chest), would look neat, provided I made some changes so the pattern would look more natural; I don't wear tattoos, so my fursona shouldn't look like he does.

Some experimentation, and gratuitous use of the smudge tool later, here's the result. There's also another couple of changes here, but they affect the lineart, and strike me as being more of a style thing.
